MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata County commissioners took steps Tuesday to strengthen the county's emergency preparedness, approving a professional services agreement with MCM Consulting Group, Inc. to update the county's Hazard Mitigation Plan, a federally required document that guides how the county prepares for and responds to natural and man-made disasters.
The agreement, presented by William Hummel, Juniata County Emergency Management Coordinator, calls for the work to be completed by September 30, 2026. The plan will address the range of hazards that could affect Juniata County residents, from flooding and severe weather to infrastructure failures. Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
