LEWISTOWN — One person died and several others were injured after a late-night house fire Wednesday in Lewistown Borough, emergency officials said.

Crews were called at 11:55 p.m. to a single-family home in the 200 block of Bratton Avenue, Mifflin County 911 officials said. The Mifflin County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene. The person who died had been identified only as a female as of Thursday afternoon.

Other people were taken to the hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available Thursday afternoon.

City Hook & Ladder #14 said crews were dispatched to a working house fire with reports of multiple people trapped. The department said the fire resulted in one civilian fatality, one person with severe injuries, and additional injuries.

About seven fire departments responded. City Hook & Ladder said crews remained on scene for nearly four hours and that 21 personnel responded. The scene was cleared shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal. The Mifflin County Coroner’s Office confirmed it responded and said more information, including the person’s identity, would be released later. No additional details were immediately available Thursday afternoon.
