LEWISTOWN – The Mifflin County Commissioners on Thursday proclaimed March 15–21 as Pennsylvania 4-H Week, recognizing the more than 315 local youths who participate in the program and highlighting its role in leadership development across the county.

The board unanimously adopted the proclamation during its regular meeting in Lewistown, formally encouraging residents to celebrate 4-H’s impact and its continued efforts to prepare young people for future success. The proclamation notes that 4-H serves youth ages 5 to 18 and is delivered locally through Penn State Cooperative Extension.

Amy Spickler, program coordinator for the Mifflin County 4-H Program, told commissioners that the county currently has 17 clubs, including livestock, community clubs and Cloverbuds for children ages 5 to 7. She said the program continues to grow and now faces the challenge of limited space because of increasing participation.
